Juniors may waive up to TWO exams per semester and Seniors may waive up to FOUR exams per semester if they meet the following general criteria:
- Students must have a minimum cumulative semester grade average of 85% for the course where the waiver is requested by the established grading semester cut-off date.
- Students may only have a maximum of THREE "Documented Absences (ILP/ILH)" or "UNX" ABSENCES in the course the exam waiver is requested.
- Three tardies will equal one absence for attendance purposes only when requesting a waiver.
- A student may not make-up absences and/or tardies to lower his number of unexcused absences
- ALC placement, At-Home Suspensions, or In-School Suspensions will disqualify students from an exam waiver.
- Students may not waive both the fall and spring finals for a course. For example, if a student waived a final in the fall semester, he/she will not be allowed to waive for that course's exam in the spring.
- Exam waivers are not offered for courses articulated with ACC or UT.
- Exam waivers are not open to juniors or seniors in traditionally freshman or sophomore core courses such as English I or II.
- Juniors are not allowed to request a waiver for the fall exam in U.S. History because of the EOC test in the spring, but juniors may request a waiver in the spring if they meet the criteria.
- Students approved for a waiver will complete a culminating project assigned by the teacher that they will bring with them to class on the day of the final exam period. If a student does not submit a culminating project, he/she will take the final exam for the course even if previously approved for a waiver.
- Students must be present during the exam period in order to waive the final exam. If a student is absent, they are automatically disqualified from waiving the final and will receive a zero on that final until it is made up.
