Stephen F. Austin High School

Art Contest Winners

  • This past weekend, Austin High's advance drawing students, Alexandra Gamboa, Andrea Mathisen, Josh Najera, Mielle Pena, and Heidi Schultz competed at State V.A.S.E. in San Antonio. This is the culminating event of a year of hard work and creative genius on behalf of the art students in Texas! This event begins with each of the Regional Events scheduled during the months of January and February. The State of Texas is divided into 20 Educational Regional Service Centers. These regions serve as the dividing boundaries for participation in the regional events. The students are interviewed and their artworks are juried by certified, professional TAEA jurors. A Rating IV is the mark of a superior, exemplary, work of art. This recognition represents the pinnacle of artistic success in the V.A.S.E. program. Once an artwork receives a rating IV, the artwork could receive a Gold Seal. Austin High's advance drawing students, Alexandra Gamboa, Andrea Mathisen, Josh Najera, and Mielle Pena each received a rating IV. Heidi Schultz received a rating III. Please congratulate these amazing and talented artists. Their artwork will be on display for everyone to see!

CiNCA and Westcave Preserve Art Contest

  • CiNCA (Children in Nature Collaborative of Austin) and Westcave Preserve attended Austin ISD's Youth Art Month Show and selected approximately 15 pieces of student artwork that were professional, digitally photographed on the spot. Congratulations to two Austin High's advance drawing students, Alexandra Gamboa, and Heidi Schultz, whose artwork has been chosen by the CiNCA for use in their fall celebration.
