The Austin High Youth & Government Club participated in the 2016 YMCA Youth & Government State Conference at the State Capitol. They participated in several sections including Governors Cabinet, Youth Lobbyist, Youth Legislator and the State Affairs Forum. After Two long days of Debate and Lobbying the Club was honored with awards for Sr. Theo Symonds – Distinguished Governors Cabinet and Soph. Joseph Smith-Klein – Distinguished House Legislator. In addition, the State Affairs Team of Soph. Miranda Gershoni and Jr. Madison Perry saw their proposal successfully pass through 3 rounds of Debate to finish as a top 10 proposal. Their topic was on proposing that the Austin High MAPS program be extended State wide. Congratulations are also in order for the other team member’s, Nicolas Shaughnessy, Maura Goetzel and Anne-Marie Marler for their participation in the Conference. They did a great job. Please congratulate them for their particpation, hard work and achievement!
